It's surprising that games developers have never really capitalised on the Western genre.Sadly, there are few cowboy-based games out there. And the ones that do make it to the shelves tend to be disappointingly middle-of-the-road affairs. One such misse...

Its what the pack shot suggests - an honest paint-by-numbers shooter set in the Old West. The story might be over too soon, but the multiplayer will hold your attention for much longer. A definite improvement over the original Call of Juarez...
Panoramic vistas, superb audio and a heap of gun-slinging, stagecoach-stealing, horse-riding action. Come for the story, stay for the multiplayer.
At around ten hours, the plot could have been longer, although you can go back and play scenes as a different brother. Some of the graphical effects and palette choices are unusual, and the AI sometimes takes a siesta.

When I reviewed the first Call of Juarez back in 2007, I praised the games unique Wild-West setting but lamented the poor pacing and weak gameplay. Techlands follow-up effort, Bound in Blood, is much, much better and its obvious that the developers learned from their earlier mistakes. Its about as close as youre going to get to playing a Sergio Leone movie and really, its about damn time we had a good Western shooter. Back in the Saddle A prequel to the original Call of Juarez, Bound in B...
Solid storytelling, great visuals and Wild West setting make for a unique shooter experience...
Enemy uses dynamite too effectively, enemies can be hard to locate during long-distance gunfights...
This game is definitely a nice change of pace from the standard World War II/sci-fi settings and until someone does it better, Bound in Blood is, in my opinion, the best Western-themed shooter around...

There’s something untameable in the Western; its gritty, lawless heroes seem perfect game fodder, but most developers seem unable to put a bridal on that Western spirit. While Call Of Juarez’s gameplay left some things to be desired back in 2006, its ma...

After apocalyptic future worlds, there can be few settings less original than the Old West. Chuck in a desert, some dueling and a few authentic guns and you have yourselves a game, right? Well Techland don’t subscribe to that – Bound in Blood, like its...

Verdict: This western-themed shooter has a surprising variety of action, but is a little let down by poor enemy AI. Set in the Wild West, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is a straightforward first-person shooter. This prequel to the original Call of...

Ive played somewhere around no more than an hour of the original Call of Juarez. It wasnt that the graphics were bad; actually, it was one of the first games to take advantage of the powers of DirectX 10. It wasnt that the sound was bad either...
I gave the game the most accurate score that I can think of, but in my opinion you should not even bother reading it. Depending on your personality and the reason of why you actually want to buy this game, the final score will probably look either ov...

Western style shooters are a genre that is not touched upon very much in a sea of WWII and fictional shooters. For that reason alone, 2007’s Call of Juarez was instantly one of the greatest shooters I had ever played. Sure there was GUN and Red Dead R...

Ahh, First Person Shooters. The game genre that dominated my earliest PC playing games, from through , few other genres captured my attention. My tastes have changed dramatically over the years, needing more story to keep me engaged with a game rather...
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood suffers from some mishandled controls (they’re really not sloppy) and is lacking only in originality if you’ve inundated yourself with westerns most of your life. It is a solid, if short FPS, and even the multiplayer is...

In September of 2006, Call of Juarez was released by Ubisoft Entertainment after being developed by polish developer TechLand. Call of Juarez was powered by version 3 of TechLand’s Chrome Engine. It featured DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 renderers, and was...
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is just plain fun. It is a quintessential American spaghetti western, and the best part of that statement is, this game was developed by Polish developers. The Old American West has always inspired people all over the wor...

I feel as though I can count the number of Western-themed games with the fingers on my hand. And that I can count the number of noteworthy Western games made over the years with my genitals. While Im glad that this shooter sub-genre doesnt get as ove...
Like Gun and Red Dead Revolver, Call of Juarez is an average shooter that gets by almost entirely on the strengths of its historical setting. But at the least, Call of Juarez does a better job of playing to those strengths, and does so with more chara...

8 While the game itself is better than the original by far, the western aesthetic isnt as fresh as it once was. If youre not interested in the multiplayer then this game will probably feel short and empty.

It's pretty fascinating how the Western, a truly American idea and mythos, can be so handily crafted by non-Americans. Besides hometown creators like John Ford and Cormac McCarthy, you also have great Westerns from foreigners like Italy's Sergio Leone...
